Relationship Between the Feast of Tabernacles and the Thanksgiving Day
Let us study if there is any relationship between the Feast of Tabernacles and Thanksgiving Day.The Feast of Tabernacles was appointed when Moses and the Israelites were in the desert. The Feast was to commemorate the Israelites' gathering the materials to build the tabernacle. It was kept in the seventh month, from the 15th to the 22nd, according to the sacred calendar. Using the solar calendar, the feast falls in September or October. God commanded Moses and his people to build a sanctuary according to the pattern of the heavenly sanctuary, shown to Moses on Mount Sinai. The people were moved by the Holy Spirit and willingly offered materials—gold, silver, linen, and cotton—to help build the tabernacle. Eventually, Moses ordered that they didn't have to bring any more offerings (Ex. 35:4-36:7). To commemorate the Israelites' building the tabernacle, God appointed the Feast of Tabernacles, also referred to as the feast of booths. The Israelites built booths in the inner and outer courts of the temple and rejoiced for a week (Lev. 23:34-36). This feast fell during the season in which all of the grains were harvested. Thus, the Feast of Tabernacles was also called the Feast of Ingathering (Ex. 34:22). The book of Hebrews reveals that the earthly sanctuary, built by Moses, was a copy and a shadow of the heavenly sanctuary to be built by Jesus Christ. Heb. 8:5 『They serve at a sanctuary (on the earth) that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."』 In the time of Moses, materials were gathered for the building of the sanctuary. These materials symbolized God's people, who are described as the "materials" for the heavenly sanctuary to be gathered in the New Testament times. Eph. 2:20-22 『...with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.』 Rev. 3:12 『"Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God..."』 In the time of Moses, the Israelites gathered materials for seven days and built the tabernacle. In the Old Testament times, the Israelites ceremonially constructed booths of grass or trees and joyfully stayed within them for seven days. These are both prophecies disclosing that the 144,000 saints—who are described as "wood" (Jer. 5:14) and as the materials of the temple (Eph. 2:20-21)—will be gathered. As they are gathered, the earthly gospel work will be completed. Jesus also showed us an example of preaching during the Feast of Tabernacles (John 7:14, 37).

Church of God]-True Prophets Are in Zion

Those Who Are Misled by the False Prophets Will Also Be Destroyed
The Bible says that the false prophets are not the only ones to be destroyed; the people who are misled by these false prophets will also be led into destruction. Isa. 9:16 『Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.』 In other words, false prophets slam the doors to the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces, making them into the children of hell.Matt. 23:13-15 『"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are."』Today, who can be considered the teachers of the law and the Pharisees? They are the false prophets who teach people to accept and to follow lawlessness [the rules of men.]Matt. 23:27-28 『"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness."』 False prophets belong to the devil, the father of lies. They do not speak the truth, only lies. John 8:44 『"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." 』Rev. 21:8 『...All liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur...』We must obey God’s laws, following the true prophets who have been sent by God. The devil sends false prophets into the world to deceive people and to prohibit them from following the word of God. If we follow false prophets, we will be destroyed.

Other Ceremonies of Sun-Worship, Besides Christmas

"All judges, city-people and craftsmen shall rest on the venerable day of the Sun. But countrymen may without hindrance attend to agriculture, since it often happens that this is the most suitable day for sowing grain or planting vines, so that the opportunity afforded by divine providence may not be lost, for the right season is short." (7 March 321)
1) Considering the fact that Constantine called Sunday "the venerable day of the Sun," Sunday must be the day to worship the sun god. In the Bible, there is not a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday.
In regard to this, Christian history testifies:
"The first day of the week was proclaimed as a day of rest and worship, and its observance soon became general throughout the empire. In 321 A.D. Constantine forbade the courts to be held on Sunday, except for the purpose of giving freedom to slaves; and on that day soldiers were commanded to omit their daily military exercises. But the public games were continued on Sunday, tending to make it more a holiday than a holy-day." (The Story of the Christian Church by Jesse Lyman Hurlbut, pp. 60-61.)
2) Daniel already prophesied, in a revelation, that Satan would speak against God and would try to change God’s set times and laws.
Dan. 7:25 『He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.』
God warns that He will bring severe punishment, without compassion, upon those who replace the laws of truth with their own rules, who rationalize false logic, and who change God’s sacred laws into those of the Romans—the sun-worshipers. On the other hand, God said that He would put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all of the detestable things which are done, including sun-worship.
When God’s judgment comes upon those who have worshiped the sun god—even though they have professed that they believe in God—this mark will bring redemption to God’s true people.
Ezek. 9:4-6 『..."Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it." As I listened, he said to the others, "Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. Slaughter old men, young men and maidens, women and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.』
Isa. 9:13-16 『But the people have not returned to him who struck them, nor have they sought the LORD Almighty. So the LORD will cut off from Israel both head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a single day; the elders and prominent men are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led by astray.』
As stated above, Sunday service and Christmas—December 25th—are the weapons Satan uses to resist God. By sending many false prophets, Satan has taken many souls captive under hollow and deceptive philosophies. What does not come from the Bible cannot be considered God’s teaching, even if it seems extremely plausible. The preachers, who teach a different gospel, and their followers will be punished.
Now, the time of God’s Judgment is near. All of us must follow God’s teachings, the truth which will lead us to eternal life in heaven, and we must turn away from Satan’s deception of Sunday service and Christmas.
Luke 6:46 『"Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?"』
Keeping Christ’s words in our minds, we shall be God’s faithful people who will follow the truth and will obey only what God has commanded.
The Miserable Fate of Sun Worshipers
Who will care if an unbeliever worships the sun god, or even the old wood god? However, if a Christian worships the sun god, rejecting God’s command—"You shall have no other gods before me," and, "You shall not worship idols"—it is detestable to God, isn’t it? The Bible says that such abominable acts are committed "between the portico and the altar." Isn’t the chapel what lies between the portico and the altar? People worship the sun god within the very churches that have been established for worshiping God. How abominable!
Satan has ingeniously set a snare, and his trickery is nearly unnoticeable. If sun-worship could be recognized at a glance, who would go to such a church, looking to find God? In order to deceive many people, Satan hid sun-worship within church doctrine. Sunday service and Christmas are paragons of sun-worship.
As stated above, Christmas is a pagan custom which has been Christianized. Its origin is a Roman festival of sun god worship, a slice of spiritual adultery, mixing truth with falsehood.

Evidence From Dictionaries and Newspapers
■ Encyclopedia BRITANNICA, p. 704.
"Christmas/December 25 was the date of a pagan festival in Rome, chosen in A.D. 274 by the emperor Aurelian as the birthday of the unconquered sun (natalis solis invicti), which at the winter solstice begins again to show an increase of light. At some point before A.D. 336 the church at Rome established the commemoration of the birthday of Christ, the sun of righteousness, on this same date."
■ Encyclopedia AMERICANA, p. 666.
"This date [December 25] was not set in the West until about the middle of the 4th century and in the East until about a century later...The reason for establishing December 25 as Christmas is somewhat obscure, but it is usually held that the day was chosen to correspond to pagan festivals that took place around the time of the winter solstice, when the days begin to lengthen, to celebrate the "rebirth of the sun." Northern European tribes celebrate their chief festival of Yule at the winter solstice to commemorate the rebirth of the sun as the giver of light and warmth. The Roman Saturnalia (a festival dedicated to Saturn, the god of agriculture, and to the renewed power of the sun), also took place at this time and some Christmas customs are thought to be rooted in this ancient pagan celebration."
■ "TODAY" (a newspaper published in Singapore) Tuesday, December 21, 2004"
Two thousand years ago, this [Christmas] was the very kind of celebration that alarmed the early Christian Church, which was disgusted with the cheer and merriment that marked the pagan festivals of their new converts. At first, the Church forbade this kind of celebration. But it was to no avail....The 25th was not only sacred to the Romans, but also to the Persians—whose religion, Mithraism, was one of Christianity’s main rivals then. The Church was successful eventually in taking the merriment, lights and gifts from the pagan festival and bringing them to the celebration of Christmas. The history of celebrating the end of the year or of a cycle dates back to more than 4,000 years. Many of the Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before Jesus Christ was born...As the winter solstice approached, with its long cold nights and short days, many people feared the sun would not return. Special rituals and celebrations were held to welcome back the sun..."
And in a book entitled World Government and 666 it is written that the birthday of Nimrod—the first model of the Antichrist, historically—was celebrated on the 25th of December as the Roman festival, Saturnalia.
The Franklin Institute, in America, also researched this subject, concluding that Jesus Christ was born in March or April. While at a midnight mass on Christmas Eve, in Korea’s Myongdong Cathedral, a reporter asked a Catholic reverend about the origin of Christmas. The reverend replied by quoting historical evidence, "This day [Christmas] originated with the custom of pagans who worshiped the sun god." In spite of such reports, many people do not realize if they are worshiping God or the sun god, because they have been deceived by Satan and have become spiritually deaf and blind.

The Truth Always Prevails
The theories of Copernicus and Galileo were treated as mere heresy for a long time. However, as the field of science developed, their heliocentric theory became common knowledge, and the astronomers are now respected as pioneers.
By studying the Bible, we can clearly understand what heresy is. If you believe in God, and if you believe that the Bible was written by people who were moved by the Holy Spirit, you will surely be able to discern the true church from the churches practicing heresy.
Our standard of judgment must be the Bible, not the opinions of men. The Church of God, established by Christ Ahnsahnghong, follows only the teachings of the Bible, and can thus be easily recognized as the true Church.
Just as a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and as a bad tree cannot bear good fruit, the people who refuse to follow the teachings of the Bible will never be able to enter the kingdom of heaven.
The truth always prevails!
Was Jesus a Heretic?
1) Jesus, too, was treated as a heretic
The Jewish people who lived two thousand years ago referred to Christianity as the "Nazarene sect,"persecuting Christians for following Jesus, who was from Nazareth (Acts 24:5). Regarding Him as a heretic, the Jews tried to kill Jesus many times.
John 8:59 『At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.』
John 10:30-31 『"I and the Father are one." Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him...』
John 11:53 『So from that day on they plotted to take his life.』
The religious leaders of that time, who regarded Jesus as a heretic, had not recognized their sin until they handed Him over to be crucified. They believed that their actions were just, even faithful to God, and they boldly shouted, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"(Matt. 27: 23-25).
When God appears in the flesh, He is still God, not a man; however, the people thought that Jesus’divinity was only self-proclaimed. When Jesus asked the Jews why they wanted to stone Him, they answered very confidently, "We are not stoning you for any of these, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God"(John 10:33). By their actions, the Jews treated Jesus as if he had been a heretic.
2) Jesus’disciples were also called heretics
Do you think that the people who condemned Jesus, by claiming that He was a heretic, acknowledged His disciples? When the Apostles preached the gospel, the Jews denounced them, too. They assumed that the disciples were only heretics who had worshipped Jesus, the son of a carpenter, and had fabricated His divinity. The disciples, who proclaimed that Jesus was the Christ, were flogged (Acts 5:40), chased (Acts 9:23-25), and even stoned to death (Acts 7:59).
Acts 24:1-9 『"We have found this man to be a troublemaker, stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect."』
Acts 7:59-60 『While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed..."Lord, do not hold this sin against them."When he had said this, he fell asleep [died].』
3) A present-day view of heresy
When a deacon of the Protestant church first heard the truth, he asked the pastor of the Protestant church, "I happen to know of a church that proclaims that the Sabbath day is Saturday, not Sunday, and that the 25th of December is not the birthday of Jesus. Are this church’s teachings correct?"
The pastor’s answer was ridiculous, "Biblically, the Sabbath day is Saturday, and the 25th of December is not the birthday of Jesus, but any church that keeps the Sabbath and does not celebrate Christmas is heretical."
What does his answer mean?
His standard of judgment is not the Bible, but the doctrine of his own denomination. Since Jesus and His disciples kept the Sabbath day and did not celebrate Christmas, were they heretics? Today, people accuse those who follow the teachings of Jesus, calling them heretics. They use the same arguments as those who denounced Jesus as a heretic.

Comparison Between Heresy and Truth
The Sabbath day—the seventh day, Saturday—is one of God’s commandments. All history books testify to this fact. For example, one of the many Catholic books, The Faith of Millions by Reverend John A. O’Brien, records as follows: "But since Saturday, not Sunday, is specified in the Bible, isn’t it curious that non-Catholics who profess to take their religion directly from the Bible and not from the Church, observe Sunday instead of Saturday? Yes, of course, it is inconsistent; but this change was made about fifteen centuries before Protestantism was born, and by that time the custom was universally observed. They have continued the custom, even though it rests upon the authority of the Catholic Church and not upon an explicit text in the Bible"(pp. 400-401). It is clear that Sunday service is a rule of men, not of God.
Among so many heresies, we have only explored the origin of Sunday service. The Sabbath day is God’s commandment, but Sunday service is a man-made teaching—heresy. Therefore, the Church of God, which follows the teachings of Second Coming Christ Ahnsahnghong, can be proven as the true Church because it keeps the Sabbath day.

The Result of Heresy: Destruction
Jesus foretold the appearance of heretical teachings.
Matt. 13:24-42『... "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away...Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn...As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age...They will weed out everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."』

Characteristics of Heresy
just as there will be false teachers among you. They
will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even
denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing
swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their
shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into
disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit
you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation
has long been hanging over them, and their destruction
has not been sleeping.』
① Heresy results in destruction.
② Heresy brings the way of truth into disrepute.
③ Heretics teach the rules of men—that is, they teach the stories
that have been made up by men—not the words of the Bible.
④ Heretics are false prophets who rebel against God.
⑤ Heretics can never be saved.
It is not wise for a man to pass judgment on a church, simply because it is a church that he has never attended. The Bible must be our standard of judgment. All of the churches that do not follow the Bible will be destroyed in the end.
Matt. 7:21-29 『"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does
the will of my Father who is in heaven...Therefore
everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them
into practice is like a wise man who built his house
on the rock...But everyone who hears these words of
mine and does not put them into practice is like a
foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain
came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and
beat against that house, and it fell with a great
crash."』

Definition of Heresy
① adherence to a religious opinion contrary to church dogma
② dissent or deviation from a dominant theory, opinion, or practice
③ an opinion, doctrine, or practice contrary to the truth
or to generallyaccepted beliefs or standards
2) The origin of the word The word "heresy" comes from the
Greek αἵρεσις, hairesis (from αἱρέομαι, haireomai, "choose")
, meaning either a choice of beliefs, or a faction of
dissident believers.
3) The Bible’s interpretation Looking in the Bible, let us first
locate the verses which mention the word "heresy."
Gal. 5:20, KJV 『Idolatry, witchcraft...wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies,』
2 Pet. 2:1 『...They will secretly introduce destructive
heresies...』Tit. 3:10, KJV『 A man that is an heretick
after the first and second admonition reject...』
4) The Doctrine of Christianity At the time of the Early Church,
heresy was considered to be any opinion or doctrine which
deviated from the truth of the Early Church, from those who
followed only the teachings of Jesus. In other words, the
religious organizations that do not follow the words of God,
which have been written in the Bible, are heretical.

What Is Heresy?
The Church of God keeps the Passover and the Sabbath day, as Christ taught; however, the world rejects the Church, arguing, "They believe in a man," and, "They keep the Sabbath." The Bible testifies that the churches keeping Sunday service, Christmas, and Thanksgiving Day, and who revere the cross and the Virgin Mary—without ever referring to the Bible—are the true heretics.
We need to come to understand what "heresy" truly is. If we do not realize what is seen as heresy in the eyes of God, we will be led into destruction. The word "heresy" means the dissent or deviation from a dominant truth of God—that is, the adherence to lawlessness.
